FAQs

Frequently asked questions about our swim courses for children in Duesseldorf, Neuss, Grevenbroich and Bedburg

Below are answers to common questions. If you have further inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

At what age can my child learn how to swim at Krokodil-Schwimmschule?
Your child can participate in a beginner course at the age of 3. It's important that they have gained some initial water experience and can be comfortable away from parents.

My child is older (7-18 years) and a non-swimmer. Can they still join a swimming course?
Yes! Krokodil-Schwimmschule offers beginner swim courses for older non-swimmers in appropriate groups. It's never too late to learn how to swim.

How can I prepare my child for the swim course?
Diving is crucial for learning to swim. If your child is uncomfortable with water splashes, practice in the bathtub or a pool beforehand. Encourage them to blow bubbles and gradually introduce their face to the water. Avoid forcing anything; some children need more time to adjust.

What does my child need for the swim course?
Your child needs a swimsuit or tight swimming shorts, a towel, and possibly a bathrobe. We provide a KSS swim cap to help retain body heat. While wet suits are generally not recommended, a special swimming wet suit may be used if your child finds the water temperature uncomfortable. Therefore all our crocodile receive a welcome gift, which contains a swim cap as well as a special swimming suit.

How are the lessons conducted?
Our lessons take place in rented pools, including school and public facilities. Changing rooms for boys and girls are available. Please assist your child with changing, and remember that street shoes are not allowed in the pool area. The first hour is for getting to know each other, and parents can stay briefly before waiting outside or in the changing room. Make sure to allow enough time for changing after the lesson.

Are parents allowed to watch the swim class?
All lessons are conducted without parents present. This helps children focus on their tasks without distractions. Your child should be able to separate from you for the duration of the course.

How can I help my child learn to swim safely?
In addition to the swimming course, regularly visiting a pool with your child allows them to showcase their progress and reinforce what they've learned. If you choose to practice together, it's important to supplement the lessons without undermining the instructor's guidance.

How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?
The time it takes varies based on your child's prior experience, willingness, and learning ability. Regular participation in lessons is also key. Beyond swimming skills, we teach children how to navigate water safely, which includes managing splashes and moving confidently in both backstroke and freestyle.

How quickly will my child receive badges like Seahorse and Bronze?
Our primary goal is to provide thorough and sustainable swimming training. A focus on quickly earning badges can hinder proper technique development and lead to less effective swimming outcomes.

We prioritize quality training over speed in achieving milestones!
